Knock, Knock, Hello AT&T?

I can see where people do price gouging when they are the "only show in town". That being said, I don't understand it. I really have difficulty when major corporations do it.

The major corporation I speak of is AT&T wireless. The people they are bullying are the deaf.

Yes, the deaf can use cell phones, heard of texting?

With the iPhone, you can load Apple's FaceTime App. Pretty handy if your amongst the users that don't have the luxury of hearing.

I'm sure that most are familiar with the data plan you have to buy when you own an iPhone. I have it, and I accept the fact that I have to pay for it.  AT&T makes sure that I pay for it. What I pay for allows a certain amount of data per month. This includes any e-mail attachments, downloaded files, etc.

Well, along comes FaceTime (a nice app), and AT&T decides that if you want to use FaceTime, you get (read as have)to pay a little more (or a lot more in this case).

Really AT&T?

I can understand if this might place more of a burden (LOL) on your systems. But, the fact is, this is technology, technology is growing. If you don't keep up with it or ahead of it, you get left behind. You want to sell your wireless services, but you seem to have issues supporting them. I won't go into your laughable customer service.

You seem to think it's the subscribers responsibility the make sure the major executives/stockholders get a nice bonus. I hate to tell you, with the economy the way it is, I'm not the least bit interested in making someone rich unless it's me.

Adobe Flash Updates

Here's another real winner. I think Apple is smarter than we suspect.

When will Adobe write software that doesn't require bi-weekly updates to keep from hacking the hell out of it?

Okay, let's get past that part. Why is it that Adobe asks me each and every time they do an update if I want to allow them to do an automatic update?

This about it. They have written software that people keep hacking, but they believe that it is safe enough to allow them to automatically update their crappy software?

Really Adobe?

McAfee, Shame On You

McAfee, McAfee, McAfee.

Now this is one sad company. They send out updates (don't most people have their anti-virus software on automatic update?) and kill everyone's internet access.

Now, if you are unlucky enough to have no other means to access the internet, you're probably screwed. If, on the other hand, you have more than one computer set up to access the internet, and you were smart enough to not have the same anti-virus software installed on that computer as well, you can find the answer.

The answer is, McAfee lacks good QA.

Ok, McAfee sends out an update, it gets installed. You lose internet access. McAfee finds out about the issue and send out an e-mail to their customers that have had their internet access killed.

How stupid is that?

That rates right up there with putting this line in an e-mail, "Let me know if you get this".

Really people?

Now, McAfee will have you do some work to fix a problem they created.

Let me see if I understand this. McAfee comes into your house and breaks something, doesn't tell you.

Now, you are left with the mess. Problem is, to fix what they broke requires you to do some work. If I recall correctly, I go to work 5 days a week, and I get paid for the hours I work, but I having to work to fix what they broke, and no one is paying me.

I fixed it. I also got rid of McAfee. That was strike 2 between McAfee and me, I'm not giving them a chance at strike 3.

Java Update

Oracle, Really?

Why is it that so many software companies are always trying to shove third party software down your throat with the updates?

I just did the update for Java, and during the course of the update, I was asked to install the "Ask Toolbar".

Why would I want to install another piece of crap software that tracks my every move? Not to mention that the ask search engine comes nowhere close to the Google search engine.
